Amilo PA 2510 - Windows XP Pro installation problem

Postby Zerrb » Sat Feb 07, 2009 5:35 pm

The situation is like this...

I've bought this laptop last year, played on it several months. It came with Vista Home Basic, but I installed XP SP2 and XP SP3 later on. After some time my DVD-RW stopped working. I've sent it back to the manufacturer and they replaced it. But the problem was that I couldn't install XP anymore on the laptop, only Vista. When I want to install XP the following happens: I boot up from the CD, all drivers get loaded, and then I get the message: "Windows is starting". After this, I see the "Press ENTER to install Windows XP" message and in that very moment the laptop turns off. I tried with SP2, SP3, nothing worked. Does anyone know what the problem might be?

Thanks in advance, Zerrb.

I had a similar problem.

Solved by formatting the system partition and EISA (factory backup) partition prior to installing XP on 2510.

Hope that helps
