What is your configuration??
You tried with drivers from fuitsu-siemens.com??
I have the same laptop and I had problems with drivers when I tried to format Vista and instal XP. It seems that FS didn't made drivers for this laptop for XP.
What is your experiance ???
I had to back to Vista again :-(

What sound card does your laptop mount?
Low sound is a common problem with laptop based on the Intel HDA with ICH7 motherboards.

Hello! I had the same problem, but here's the solution

Those who had sound from the speaker, but the volume was very low (even if the mixer was on 100%) do the following:

first download the alsa 1.0.15 source from the alsa website.
as a root follow the installing instructions (note that you'll have the whole Linux source code installed to your system)

- when you finished download:
- extract the downloaded file wherewer you want.
- start terminal or Konsole or whatewer you have
- goto the extracted alsa-driver-1-0-15 directory
- type ./configure and press enter
- type make and press enter
- type make install and press enter

after finishing the installation reboot, then install an alsa-mixer (like KAmix) to enable maximum conpatibility (SuSE users from version 10.2 or above already have this mixer named Kmix).

now go to your audio or video player and select ALSA as Sound subsystem. the option "AUTOMATIC" is NOT working!!! (for exmpl: amarok: options - sound-subsystem - output-module - ALSA

okay... now only one problem... the jack... there are some switchers and sliders appear in KMix (or KAmix, or what you installed), but I tried to enable these and didn't work...

please refer to the topic "no sound from headphones jack" to solve this problem...

But see the good things you have sound from the speakers :D

anyway what is JACK used for (see in amarok-options-sound_subsystem-output_module - JACK... I tried to enable it but the jack output didn't work and there was no sound from the speakers either...

Fu-Si AMILO Li1705 has VT8237A chipset with integrated sound chip. Originally it is VIA High Definition Audio (displayed in Yast2) but an intel driver is loaded for it... I dunno why...

but the final 1.0.15 ALSA (not RC or something) driver solved the low-sound-problem for me...

I use the same Laptop... running SuSE Linux 10.2 x86_32 achitecture (32bits) kernel: 2.6.xxx
bash: 3.1.17

Yes! it is quite easy... goto www.madwifi.org and find the Linux Distribution and version you have...

I have Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo Li1705 as I mentioned above, and I have an Atheros 5005 integrated Wifi adapter.

Magwifi offers their drivers for Atheros, but I hope that most cards can work with it.

so download the proper driver, unpack it to any directory, where you want to.

start Terminal or Konsole (or simply press Ctrl+Alt+F2 together) type "su root" to enter the root account

enter the directory you've just extracted, then type "./configure"
in case of no error messages type "make", and be sure that any required sources are installed... (you'll need the complete Linux source code installed!! and python libraries i think but check the certain error messages to be sure what you need)
if no errors then type "make install"

this is all what you need! the source of the driver for SuSE Linux 10.2 is added to this reply...

ask bravely in case of errors, or if you have something that does not work...

but I'm sure if you visit madwifi.org you'll find everything you're looking for.
there are RPM installers for compatible distributions too...

The driver provided at openchrome.org works fine. However, anyone manage to get the 3d stuff working? Driver compiles without any complaints but the system hangs when using it.

how do i find the wireless card i have

Postby rozakia » Sun Feb 10, 2008 5:13 pm

i have amilo li 1705 and i did not find even the wireless card. i tried to install madwifi but some tools still do not work. i tried lspci but nothing appears there. i am newbie. i do not know even how the card could look like or what type is it. they had not said anything about it in the specifications except it uses some bg standard or something like that. so strange. i have opensuse on my computer. i tried installing ndiswrapper as well but do not know that much what to do with what i installed.
