Hi!
I didn't want to open a new thread about this because I have seen a lot of people with the same sound problem when moving to windows xp, but I still dont get it fixed...
I think my problem is the same:
I moved my
AMILO PI 1536 from winXPhome (delivered with the laptop and with fully operative sound)
to
winXPproSP2 european portuguese version;
I had to fix that SATA problem during the installation by creating the customized disk with iaStor drivers, and everything went well.
Then, I followed the given steps: I installed
chipset drivers given in the Drivers & Utilities DVD (also the up-to-date ones), then I installed
KB888111PTG for SP2 (the right one), and then the
audio drivers given in that disk (also the updated ones from realtek site) Everything goes well: no errors, no crunches, no blue screens...
As a matter of fact, as soon as I reboot, everything stays the same: no sound, no volume control loaded in the system tray and, according to control panel multimedia info, no sound device installed...
Please, I would appreciate very much any help, because I have followed all the steps, tutorials, threads I have found about this problem and I got no results, after several tries. If I should had provided any additional info about my system status to let you help me, please, tell me and I will attach it; I have very few koweldgements about computers and I fear I am missing something obvious, but I don't get it to work...
I REALLY need sound on my laptop, as soon as I get back to work in a couple of weeks
Thanks a lot for your attention!
NB: Could the problem be related to the instalation disk I made including SATA drivers... and that's why I get no success where other do? Or maybe I am thinking too much...
