Amilo Pro v3515 - Upgrade Questions

Postby GTWarlock » Tue Aug 21, 2007 1:02 pm

OK, i bought an Amilo Pro v3515 recently - it is my first laptop - and i like it! it would be great if it could replace my desktop, but bought for £300 so not up to the job.

Specs:
Fujitsu Siemens AMILO Pro V3515 Edition -
Celeron M 440 1.86 GHz -
RAM - 1gb DDR II SDRAM - 533 MHz
Hard Drive - 60 GB - Serial ATA-150 - 5400 rpm
Optical Storage - DVD1RW (+R double layer) / DVD-RAM - integrated
Graphics Controller - VIA Chrome9 VN896
Operating System - Microsoft Windows Vista Home Basic
Manufacturer Warranty - 1 year warranty

Very little documentation with the machine, so i dont know what can be upgraded, to what, and how! The on-board graphics is the main problem - would like a decent Gfx card at some point, and will want to upgrade the processor at some point. Also will want more storage, but will probably do that using USB external drive.

OK, so:

1. Where could i get a schematic or otherwise that would tell me how to get at the components?

2. Could i upgrade graphics (they are onboard i think and not sure if i can disable it in bios - also says it is PCI-E - so dont know if there will be a physical PCI-E slot for upgrade) and what to?

3. What processor upgrades would be available to me on this model?

4. What would all this do the waranty if i did it within the first year? (think i know the answer to this one!)

5. Is there a decent manual that could answer all these Q's, and if so why didnt i get one with the machine!

Hope you guys can answer at least some of these questions - it is a good machine but i just know from my past experience that i will get annoyed before long and want to tinker with/upgrade it.

Thanks in advance,

GT.
