Also, is there any way of customising the browser button so it loads a different page, rather than just my home directory.

As for install hanging, it's because it will ask to insert the CD. If you remove the > /dev/null from all lines calling apt-get, it will work.

Finally, I know this isn't really the right thread for this but might as well ask anyway; when booting, the Ubuntu logo and progress bar is not displayed; the screen is totally blank. The same thing happens when shutting down. If I press Ctrl+Alt+F1 to get a terminal, the text is stretched horizontally and in a large font. Any ideas about these?

Thanks.

regarding the /dev/null and other untraced bugs in the script - I'm currently doing some major refactoring in the script that should make it easier to hunt them down and solve them. sadly, it *may* create new bugs since I can't test all the scenarios with what I have here...

OK thanks for that, seems to work now.

Any ideas on how to change the target page for the browser button?

Thanks again.

Change the homepage in firefox (Edit->Preference->Main->startup) - that should do it.

On another note - new version of the script is now available
You must remove the old version before you setup the new one.

Viper & Kats - Please tell me if its working now. It should give an error if the script was not able to blacklist a module.[/b]

Ndiswrapper not working?

Postby ViPeR » Fri Nov 02, 2007 11:21 pm

Hi I think there's a problem with my ndiswrapper...
When I type in: sudo modprobe ndiswrapper

I get this reply in the terminal: FATAL: Module ndiswrapper not found.

I installed ndiswrapper twice after removing it completely and reinstalling it... I have Ndiswrapper 1.9

Thinking this is the cause for all my problems...?
You can't say you can't until you've tried

Weee!!! xD

Got it to work with this guide:

http://ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.php/t-546451.html

If you are having problems, use this one to get the wireless to work on Amilo Li 1718

That was me that wrote that guide, I'm glad it was useful to you.

I have also written a guide to use this script on both linux mint cassanda KDE & Gnome versions here:

[sudo] password for kasketten:

Sorry I'm forgeting its a USB sound card. A quick search of google for info on these devices seems to show that there could be problems getting some of them to work in linux, but we can try a few things.

To start with have you disabled the onboard sound in the BIOS?
