Amilo pro 3515 Ubuntu Graphic Card Problem

Postby SH4H4B » Mon Oct 01, 2007 2:40 am

Hi everyone

I installed Ubuntu on my laptop which is a Fujitsu Siemens (Amilo Pro v3515) with chipset: via chrome 9 hc igp.
Unfortunately the live-cd didn't detect my graphic card.

I've tried fixing the problem of screen resolution by installing 915resolution program, but I couldn't get my preferred resolution (1280x800)

I also found the driver's site: http://www.hombrepac.com.ar/software...untu-edgy-610/ but it was hopeless to install it.

I did as told till decompressing part, " # tar zxvf CN_CX700-CN800XORG40071-kernel-src_[date].tgz"

I got an error then decompressed it myself, but still couldn't continue from next step

Does anyone know how I can install the graphic card or when they'll be supported by Ubuntu?

Thanks

VIA graphics driver support is bad for Linux :-(
There are already some threads in this forum discussing the problem.

(Your link does not work.)

Aaron

PS: 915resolution is only for Intel graphics.

You can use 1280x800 with VESA driver. Use command:

sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg

You will be asked two questions. Select vesa as a driver and select 1280x800 resolution. Then reboot or just restart X server with Ctrl+Alt+Bksp.
