RAM for Amilo D8830 laptop

Postby homer99 » Thu Oct 04, 2007 8:39 pm

I've been thinking of byuing extra memory for F-S Amilo D8830 laptop. What is the full specification for RAM so that I can buy correct memory module(s) right away ?? It seems that there is plenty of options and I am quite a newbie in this fiield.

What I can see from D8830 data sheet:

256 - 2048MB DDR SDRAM, DDR 266/333 (Desktop memory)
256/512/1024MB memory modules
2 free DIMM memory slots (no memory on board)

I guess this information is not enough. At least I end up with more questions when trying to find correct memory module with above specification from the internet stores.

And where to get cheapest memory modules for this laptop?

Thanks!

This information is ok, nothing missing.
DDR-266 is the same as PC2100.
DDR-333 is the same as PC2700.
DDR-400 (PC3200) works, also.
Timings are not important (CL values...).
Desktop memory means modules with 184 pins (notebook modules have 200 pins).

Just "cheap" is not good criteria... look for brands like Infineon/Qimonda, Samsung, Kingston, Micron, Hynix, MDT.
