Cleaning the keyboard.

Postby elodiesel » Fri Jun 09, 2006 11:47 pm

Hi!

I have the AmiloM3438G and is generally extremely satisfied.
One little problem has however crept out of the woodwork.

Since this laptop does a lot of travelling to varous greenlandic powerplants the keyboard has collected a lot of dirt/dust under the keys. Sometimes even to the extent of preventing the function of a key.

Vacuumcleaners or compressed air are NOT my preferred troublesolvers in this problem. A vacuumcleaner above the keyboard/on the keys generally has little or no effect under the keys. Compressed air has been known to simply blow the dirt/dust somwhere else where it does just as much (if not more) damage.

I would, as a result hereof, be very happy :D if anyone knew how to remove the keyboard on the M3438G.

The official helpdesk in Denmark told me to send the computer to service but as this probably will be a returning problem i´d much prefer to deal with the problem myself.
I once tried to remove the keyboard on another laptop. This proved to be a simple task involving 1 screw and two plastic clips, but i don´t seem to be able to figure out the proper procedure in this case.

I hope somone can/will help.

Regards Elodiesel

If you turn around the notebook there is a screw in the center of the cover labeled wich KB (=Keyboard). This is the only screw that holds the keyboard. The rest is only held by clips (three on the top and one on the sides each). With a small screwdriver you can easily remove the keyboard by pushing softly the clips.

Opening the chassis in the Amilo D 7820

Postby monteen » Fri Aug 11, 2006 8:40 pm

Hi everybody
I need to open the chassis of my Amilo D7820 because I want to replace the CPU. Once I have pulled all the screws, what should I do? the upper part of the chassis seems to be impossible to open, it must have still something that holds it in its place!
thanks in advance!

I am having exact problem, where can I locate the clips you mentioned? So far I could only remove the long skrew marked with k-b.

Thanks

there are three at the top and one on each side of the keyboard between the keyboard itself and the black plastic of the top.
The removed keyboard looks like that:

This is held by the screw and the five clips.

I will try that later, I was afraid I was going to break something as the space between the keyboard itself and the black plastic is very tight.

ok, which order do you start after removing the skrew on the button of the Laptop. Do you place a tiny skrew driver behind the Esc button to the left and lift it up? Sorry I am new to this

just use, as you say, a tiny screw driver and try softly to loose the clips. Just go through all of them. If one doesnt want to let go, try the next one and go back to the tight one later.

Thank you,, I have successfully replaced the keyboard but I am experiencing a werd problem. The sysystem will not power on. When I power button the hard drive led flashes and nothing on display. I have removed the battery before getting started.

Any Idea?

did you change the keyboard? Is it original hardware?

You may try Hardware-Reset as described here
topic,11,-Hardware-F-A-Q.html

Make sure that the keyboard connection to the mainboard is set up properly.
