Hi

you don't go through the back.... you need to remove the keyboard....

see here for details : http://www.fujitsu-siemens.co.uk/rl/servicesupport/techsupport/lifebook/Amilo%20Pro/Downloads/Amilo_Pro_V2010_RAM_Upgrade%20GJB.htm

That domain no longer works. The closest I got to finding the information I wanted (again, I need to know how to upgrade this laptop's memory) was this image on the Fujitsu-Siemens website:

But that doesn't tell me what I need to do to get to that point.

This is often a bit tricky, but usually not very difficult. Unfortunately I don't know the Amilo pro 2010, but I have messed with a lot of different portables. On some you can get a slight indications on which screws to start with, often marked with an arrow or something like that; on some models you just have to go by your intuition (when there's no other source of guidence  Most important; have a couple of small boxes to collect screws in, and don't ever give up!!!

Very generally; on some portables you have to start with the back, unscrew every screw carefully to get access to the parts that loosen the keyboard. These parts are often connected to the back part of the computer near the hinges. The part you need to loosen is most often the plastic peace between the keyboard and the hinges. If you are very lucky this part can be loosened by sliding it to the left or right, but most often it has to be loosened from under the back part of the computer before you can access these screws. Sometimes you need all kinds of screwdrivers, set of small star, fivepoint star...

I hope this might help a bit. If you can post a picture or more detailed info, it would easier to give more detailed help.

Regards

Bless those Germans and their little cotton socks. :)

The laptop belongs to a customer (I fix computers for a living, but laptops aren't really my speciality), and to begin with I didn't mind doing the memory upgrade because I assumed it was going to be a simple trapdoor job, only to find a FAKE TRAPDOOR (WHY FUJITSU WHY? ). When I discovered this, memories of very fragile insides of laptops resurfaced, and I just wanted to get it over and done with after doing a reasonable amount of research, so after I successfully got to the memory slots, I remembered that I'm still waiting for the memory module to be delivered  .

Anyway, thanks for your help and it's a load off of my mind.
