No boot on battery power

Postby GERMO » Sun Oct 28, 2007 10:15 am

Hi all,
I am okay with computers, but new to laptops. I have recently got a Amilo 1310G, and decided to upgrade to 1GB. Unfortunately I installed a 667Mhz module, (Wrong speed, wrong voltage etc).
Apart from a slight blip of the power light, nothing happened (On battery power).
So I replaced the module with the original (333Mhz CL2.5), and she now boots up fine on ac power, but nothing on battery.
Battery was fine before, have I knackered it, or can one of you clever guys suggest something?

Did you try the "hardware reset" (see FAQ)?

But I wonder how you got the wrong module installed... the notch is at another position, so inserting it would break your DDR2 module and/or the motherboard. It's a good sign you can use the laptop at all.

Regards

Wrong module

You are so right. I tried to use the redundant modules from my HP Pavillion that I had upgraded. I made the module fit, (Wish I hadn't now),
Please explain further on the hardware reset. If no luck, I will just have to use on AC exclusively.

Cheers,

Nick.

Hi all,
It's been a while, but I wanted to update the thread. Good news! :P
I sourced and purchased a Surface mount fuse of the correct amperage, and managed to solder it into place on top of the blown one. This was made more difficult due to my inability to remove the laptop plastics! :? Any way, it worked :D and I can now run the laptop on power or battery. I have learnt from the experience, and will in future pay closer attention to the specs of components. Thanks aspetti and Aaron for your replies.

Cheers,

Germo.
