Postby Loz » Wed Jun 28, 2006 9:29 pm

Hi
For three weeks i Purchased a A1667g to replace my A1640, so far am really impressed with it and have not had any overheating problems or noisey fans, with
it. So to cut a long story short i wanted to to put Suse 10.1 on the A1667g as i prefer
Linux to Windows.javascript:emoticon('')

i have finally got everthing working from cardreader, X700 , Wlan, i had a few hicups
with Suse 10.1 Especially with the wlan and wanted to now if anyone is intressted,
if i write a how to review for other people who want to try the free 64bit version.

As i have said it really works well with the A1667g Even 3Djavascript:emoticon('')

Even now i am writing over wlan, even in battery modus much longer then Windows.
So Please feel free to let me Know

Problem with display in SUSE

Postby dooku » Fri Oct 06, 2006 2:30 pm

Hi!
I have a question. You said you have SUSE10.1 on your system. I have an Amilo A1667G and I wanted to install SUSE 10.0. The problem is with the display in X. It shuts down when i start the X display. Maybe I didn't configure it well. I had problems with the display on another system (an Amilo A1640), as I couldn't set the display 1280x800. It only worked with 1024x768. Eventually, I rewrote the configuration file and it worked just fine. I forgot to mention that it wasn't SUSE. It was a Debian.

The thing is I think it's the same problem because when I installed suse I chose 1280x800x24biti. The system works just fine, but I cannot start the X display (KDE).

Do you have any ideea why I have this problem? Should I reinstall it?

Hi
The same problem i had as well, try not to play with xconfigure, go to
ATI web side get the latest linux ati driver. Read the on how to install, do exactly what they write then it should work fine.
This is a problem with the ATI driver and not SuSe. It worked fine by me also with GL 3D. GoodLuck.

P.S This was for SuSe 10.1 But should be no diffrent to 10

Open /etc/X11/xorg.conf and insert the following line in your device section:
Code: Select all
Option "MonitorLayout" "LVDS,AUTO"

With "fglrx" instead of "ati" this is not required.
