wlan connection problems with amilo li1818

Postby trancel » Wed Oct 31, 2007 9:26 pm

hi! I am having problems connecting to the router that we have at home. my new fujitsu siemens li1818 did connect on the first day, but will not do it now. it says it is connected but I am unable to access the internet or emails. As far as I can see the computer does not have any faults and feel that it could be something to do with the router.(as it worked fine in the pcworld store yesterday when I took it in) I dont understand how if it connected at first, why it cant now!!! It says it has limited access.
I have downloaded the updated version driver and this still makes no difference. can you help??

Same thing here, bro. Have it for two days, still no internet trough wlan. Tried every driver that I could find. Vista downloaded all updates, still no improvement. The connection is lost after a couple of minutes. Did you try unchecking the "alow windows to disable this device to save power"?
Maybe it will work for you. Not the case here. :(

Yeah, tried that already cus seen it on one of the posts, still no change though.

Been on the phone to pc world techno guyz about 10 times and they say all the settings are correct.

I am going to phone the router people today whilst I am in front of the laptop to see if they know what to do. Because it worked in the store when I took it there the other day (it works fine off their router) that tells me that it has got to be something to do with the router, not laptop. Give that a try yourself if you hav'nt already. I'll keep you posted on any ideas that come up, or if I ever get it working lol!

I think that the problem is the SIS wlan. Today one dude from FS service picked up the laptop (because here we have "collect and return" waranty) (they pick up and return the goods) :), and he said that he will try to change the wlan with intel model. If that works, it would be great. If not, at least they will put a new SIS wlan. :S Thay said that it could be a hardware issue.
Today i'm using the old PC :( :( I can't stand the noise of the fans :(

yeah i'm using another pc too which also has a noisy fan lol!
I have just been in contact with the router people and they said to upgrade it to the 200.20 version or something. which I did. the computer was working on wireless for about 5 minutes and has just disconnected.AGAIN! least it did connect though.
Let me know what happens with your after you get it back and hopefully that will work!

I am now online using the li1818. You have to update your router to the 200.20 in the setup menu and then the computer works fine. it has been on for the past half an hour now. Not sure which version of router you have but you need to contact their customer support online, they directed me through the process.

Still working!

Postby trancel » Fri Nov 02, 2007 11:03 am

The problem is now solved. This computer is still working on the wireless n. The only thing is that for some reason, if you leave the computer on over night then the connection is lost. But all you need to do in the morning is restart your computer, then it connects fine again. For some reason the connection is lost after a time. Not sure whether you tend to leave your laptop on during night or not, but thought I would keep you updated. But least it is fixed now :) Hope yours connects ok now after you update the router!

Hi, Elle

I have the Li1818 for over two months now. I'm very satisfied with it. About the problem with the wlan card, apparently it was a problem with the router. Because when I connect the notebook to another router, it hase no problem at all.
I will write a full review if you like, but i will need some time. So if you want a quicker answer, tell me what do you need to know, so I can reply you more quickly. 8)
regards
