I dont know if this is the right place to put thid topic but im sooooooo tired of looking for an answer to my problem , i hope i find it here.


My prob:
I have a Fujitsu Siemens Amilo A1650G laptop who originaly came with Xp home edition . someone tryed to install xp prof sp2 on it and failedand instead put win 2000 prof.
Know the lap ended on my hands and i want XP on it but whatever version i try, it freezes on Setup is starting windows
i dont understand why win2000 work and not xp


(I try F5 trick (found on other forums) and failed )

Not even an :try to update your bios , not even have you tested the memory??? ANYTHING???????????


My last thought is to find someone with a amilo A1650G sempron 2ghz 512ram hdd 60gb ati radeon 200m express who can give me a norton ghost image of theyr hdd(with windows xp installed on it) FAT CHANCE FOR THAT :P

Well, I suppose you have ;-)

Does it freeze before you get Windows setup or when starting the not-finished Windows installation on your hdd?
Did you remove all partitions, including Windows 2000?

First of all it hangs on "Setup is starting Windows" part of the installation; that beeing befor i can pick what partition i want windows to be installed on before copiing files; before the first restart
Yap tryed formating on another computer, i even install win xp, up to the first restart, with the hdd connected on another computer NOTHING WORKS :(((((( except win 2000 of course

I think you have to wipe the partition table (or the whole MBR), probably there's something wrong.

Try GParted: http://gparted.sourceforge.net/livecd.php
(delete all partitions)

I'm starting to wonder if this laptop erver had xp on it
it still doesnt work
The funny thing its that on it there is a sticker "Designed for microsoft windows XP"


Please give some other pointers I THINK IM GOING CRAZY
