Wifi Xa2528 Cannot see wireless networks  Topic is solved

Postby snak » Tue Nov 20, 2007 2:01 pm

hi everyone

i recently bought the Xa2528 notebook and it has been running fantasticaly since i got it apart from occaisional disconnects from the wireless network. i could put up with this until last night my wireless network adapter decided that it didnt want to find any networks anymore so i went to the network connections and repaired and all was fine for about a minute and then it disconnected again

after this i decided to reinstall the drivers which worked fine again for another few minutes then it drops off again, the wirteless device is the SiS163U which i have seen many problems with on this forum but no1 seems to be able to fix it.

if someone has fixed it can they tell me how?

ive tried turning of the power save
downloading drives direct from SiS website
and diagnosing the problems just says that the switch on the front of the notebook if set to off whereas its set to on as i can use the bluetooth

OS is windows vista
o2 DSL surf at home router (trying a firmware update later tonight)

thanks in advance

My sister uses o2 DSL with the wireless connection to the computer, and she also experiences internet stops. Her laptop is quite old and has another WiFi card... so could it be from the modem?

My be your problem is deeper, sorry if I take part not so at place...

ok

on tuesday night i restored back to factory settings as this is generally a new laptop i didnt lose much info

after this it ran fine until i performed a windows update, and now the problem is happening again

maybe this is just a coincidence tho as the connection now lasts up to 40 minutes when in use, maybe longer i havent checked

when not in use it disconnects within a few minutes. i have unchecked the option to turn the device off when not in use which didnt seem to make a difference, i have updated the bios from the FSC site and have all of the most recent drivers for the card.

any other suggestions?

It's obvious an incompatibility issue, between the modem end wour wifi card. Try making the WiFi card at max performance(power) setting. I've heard that there are some kind of channels with those wifi networks. It's possible a neighbour conection to be causing this. So you must select another channel(i'm not sure if this is the term).

i have changed the channel to stop interference between wireless networks in the building

ive also tried the max power setting which doesnt make any difference

it is also not a problem with the compatibility as the wireless network adapter cannot detect any wireless networks in the area and there are around 5 usually with weak signals

The it should be because of the internet provider.
