How to install windows xp pro on 1818 w/ vista preinstalled  Topic is solved

Postby ddpo » Wed Dec 19, 2007 9:26 pm

Hi

First post and I'm not in the least bit techie. I got the 1818 fsc amilo with 1.73 dual core, 2gb ram, 160gb hard drive. Great machine, very happy but not with vista. I hate hate hate it!!! If I buy a legal OEM xp sp2 disc exactly what do I do to take vista off and load xp? Do I simply load xp over the top? or do I have to format drive with vista and then do a clean install?

Would be extremely grateful if someone could help!

Thanks
dd

XP can format the Vista partition, but you'll get problems with the SATA driver, see this sticky:

FSC provides drivers for XP (for your model), so that shouldn't be a problem.

thanks aaron. got it installed now and it runs perfectly, everything I needed to know was on this forum!

dd

I plan to post a new thread about this but one thing I've noticed is the fan. With vista the fan used to run loudly and regularly every 5-10 minutes but with xp installed it doesn't..should i be concerned?
