Linux on Amilo Pi 1505

Postby joshlim » Sat Dec 22, 2007 9:18 pm

Hi all! I'm just a newbie here. Anyways, I bought a Amilo Pi1505 and decided to learn Linux on it. Can anybody tell if it is possible to run it with Linux? Are the drivers compatible and run efficiently with Linux? If ever where do I check the compatibility of drivers to Linux? What kind of linux will run best with it? Thank you in advance! Peace y'all!

Hi,
I also have a PI 1505, and it works without any problem out of the box with Kubuntu gutsy.
Only three problems:
- the cheap touchpad is detected as a mouse, so no touchpad specific actions;
- the modem needs to be setup as a alsa modem, and I'm not even sure it is working, never tested it;
- the sd/ms reader only reads sd cards, memory stick aren't supported.

Compiz fusion works well, as everything else in Kubuntu.

You can try with the live install dvd for kubuntu and for ubuntu to see which is easier to use for you. And you can switch from one to another after install, just installing kubuntu-desktop or ubuntu-desktop.

I forgot that I had to add 'Option "NoDDC"' to the "Device Section" (the one with 'Driver "intel"') or I would get huge fonts.
