VISTA x64: Bison webcam (Xi 2428), where is the driver?

Postby ekoul » Sat Dec 29, 2007 2:19 pm

Hello everybody and happy holidays,

having been a very satisfied owner of a LOOX720 (FSC), I recently got myself a xi 2428. The system came with vista home premium 32-bit and I decided to move to the x64 Vista OS. Things went really smooth and I am quite happy with my notebook. However, the Bison (Chicony) webcam is not working and at the official FSC support page there are no drivers. I was wondering if there are more amilo xi users out there with the same problem and if any workaround exists. Perhaps FSC is working on a x64 driver right now? I certainly hope so…

UPDATE: some users of HP have reported that they could operate their webcams using the chicony drivers from ACER. I tried that but although in Device Manager I was able to change the driver, the whole effort resulted in a Blue Screen and the webcam is still inoperable. I will give up as I have no other ideas and I have spent already a lot of my time. All in all, except the webcam problem there is no other glitch from running the x64 Vista. Even the microphone, the remote control and the HDMI are tested and working as they should…

Hello Ekoul,

Here we have the same laptop with the same problem. We can get the webcam working (that is getting the green light to work) via FN+F7
No capture program starts and besides the led nothing happends.

Als no device is in the device list. Not that i can recognize as to be for the webcam.

Did you solved your issue yet?

Thanks,

Raymond

I m afraid that I will disappoint you as I didn’t have any luck. I don’t think there is a fix out there and I don’t think that we will have one until FSC puts herself together and make the appropriate drivers.

It's a pity...

I don't know if we have the exact same problem, but here we got it working yesterday.

What we do is turning on the cam via FN+F7. The led will turn on together with the cam it self.
At this moment you will not see yourself, but as soon as you start the program: Cyberlinke powerDV that is equipt with the laptop you can select your cam and see yourself. Also MSN messenger worked perfect this way.
So first turning on the cam before starting a capture program.

After being done you can turn off the cam with FN+F7 again.

Good luck!

Greets,

Raymond

Im not sure that I understand...

What driver are you using? When I use the Fn+F7 combination I have a pop up window that tries to find a driver online and after some time it fails and asks me for a disk! Are you using the 64bit version of vista?

The cam led that you are mentioning never switches on in my case. It did with the 32bit version of vista.

Hello.
That that it is necessary to press buttons " Fn+F7 " and so it is clear. But it works only in Vista 32bit. Who can give the reference where it is possible download these dravers for Vista 64bit? Help me.
I'm from Russia. I have got FS Amilo Xi 2550 (4 Gb DDR2).

Hi!
I recently reinstalled my x86 Vista on my Amilo and stumbled upon this site.
I found a way to fix all my driver problems. My WebCam is working properly, I just fixed my Network Adapter and WiFi.
Let me tell you how to fix the WebCam
Go here - http://support.fujitsu-siemens.com/com/ ... loads.html
This pretty much has all the drivers for all Amilo Notebooks.
From Products Choose Notebooks.
Then choose your model and choose Windows Vista.
From there download the 32bit drivers, since I didn't find any on the 64bit part of the site. But don't worry - the drivers will work (at least they worked for me)
Just install them and try the camera. The drivers come with a LiveCam software so you can check it out immediately.
Hope I helped.

Ehh, not sure about that 32-bit driver on a 64-bit os... Seems the bison drivers are packed with just enough data to work on an os. No one driver for all os as is the cases with the jmb36 sata raid controller. But I found a fix:

http://down2.driversdown.com/Notebook/B ... a64_NB.zip

just download and off you go.

better late than never, right?

How can you have a webcam to work with Windows 7 operating system?
We have tried many different ways but the end result is always the same, not work!

I would be happy if someone could tell what the drivers really work, and the order in which the installation should I do?

Hi .. for the windows vista x64 and the windows 7 x64 try this http://forum.greycomputer.de/download/h ... gx700_msi/ ... download bison_camera_vista64_nb. It`s the driver for an msi laptop but it works fine for the fujitsu siemens . :)

not working for me on win7 64 bits.... are there people who can confirm it works? Special install notes? I just installed it, rebooted and when win7 tries to install the device it gives an error --> driver not found....

Also tried it after deleting the old driver first in device manager....

Are there other alternatives?

I can confirm that the driver mentioned by Diabolique works for me using Windows 7 Ultimate 64 and I didn't have to do anything special to get it working.

Thanks to Diabolique and to anyone not having any success, are you using this file: bison_camera_vista64_nb.zip ?
