Amilo PI 2515 XP installation  Topic is solved

Postby wvelez » Mon Jan 14, 2008 6:24 pm

Hi,

I´ve downloaded the sata drivers:
iaahci.cat
iaahci.inf
iastor.cat
iaastor.inf
IaStor.sys
TXTSETUP.OEM

I went out and bought an external floppy since I´ve gone through a truck-load of CDs and could not get the unattended install to work. The problem is that when I hit F6 and go into the floppy I can´t figure out which is the driver I have to select in order for the installation to work!

Any help will be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

One of the inf-files is the driver.

But I suggest you to try the integration of the drivers into the WinXP-CD with nlite or xp-isobuilder.

Please have a look at this thread about the integration with xp-isobuilder in the german Amilo-Forum.
The interesting part is Borkar's third post. The text is in german, but the screenshots with the elementary steps are in english.

Hi Hikaru,

Thanks for the tip...I found the driver...I can format the hard drive but then it asks me for the floppy again (usb unit) and no matter how many times I hit enter it doesn´t access it.

Thanks again,

Not all USB-floppy-drives are bootable. But you need one with this feature to load the drivers.

As a rule of thumb:
A bootable drive at least costs 30 euro.

Hi Hikaru,

This one is bootable...if you leave a floppy in the drive and then start up the laptop it doesn´t boot. It´s a Freecom and it cost me 40€ at PCCity (Palmones, Andalucia, Spain)...anyhow I gave up and re´installed Vista on the laptop.

Thanks for your help anyways!

Gracias,

The only solution is slipstreaming the XP installation with SATA drivers, I used nLite to do so.

You can find SATA drivers here

http://www.intel.com/support/chipsets/imsm/index.htm

It`s an .exe file but you can extract the needed files easily 8)

Go to command prompt, go to folder in which this file is located and type:

iata78_enu.exe -a -a -pc:\

Two folders will be crated on your C hard drive: drivers and drivers64 for 64-bit XP

In there will be the files you need to use with nLite!

Can you be more specific in which driver exactly you integrated. I tried a few and got blue screens during the installation

please have a look at this thread
topic,26,-Installation-of-Windows-XP-Home-Pro-PE-FAQs.html

It gives an instruction of how to integrate SATA drivers as well as lists the correct drivers for all Amilo notebooks.

thanks for your answer, i found the solution my self, the proper driver is SATA AHCI ICH8M-E/M, the blue screens were caused by the fact that i was trying to integrate the driver to the greek version of windows .... once i tried with the english one everything was ok

I have found the drivers on hp website for download and build a floppy. their here ftp://ftp.hp.com/ftp2/pub/softpaq/sp405 ... p40738.exe
run the exe and tell it where to extract then in there you will find a folder called deployment and in that a folder called f6flpy32 copy the contents of this to a floppy and use this through the f6 option when installing windows xp. the install will tell you that it already has a driver for the ICH8M-E/M sata but don't believe it, use the one from the floppy and hey presto the drive will appear after hitting the f8 key to accept the terms.
