Pi 1505 Inverter Replacement

Postby mhallesy » Thu Jan 17, 2008 12:07 am

Hi All,
Have the dreaded extremely faint / black screen on the above laptop.
It works fine on an external monitor so I've assumed it's the inverter and have ordered a new one. Could someone please be kind enough how I access he old one for removal / replacement ? . I don't know if it sits inside the screen or whether the keyboard (and whatever else ) needs to be removed. I would be extremelly grateful for any assistance anyone can offer. Thanks in advance.

The inverter is at the bottom of the screen. To access remove the four rubber screw covers at the top of the screen and the two at the bottom of the screen. Remove the screws and be careful prising the plastic screen surround off the screen. the inverter is under a tinfoil cover at the bottom of the screen and is held in place by one screw. The wires at each end are simply pulled out. I hope this helps.

I too need to replace my inverter on my sisters Amilo Pi 1505. Where did you order a replacement from? I could only find a place in germany.

Cheers

Hi,
Thanks for the reply , I did work it out myself (didn't have the patience to wait for replies). There is a British company that stock the item. I ordered over the phone , it cost £4 plus £8 postage !! , still much cheaper than Germany I suppose. Their details:
ServiceSource Europe Ltd
Stretton Green Distribution Cent
Appleton
Warrington
Cheshire
WA4 4TQ
Tel: 01925 260800
http://www.servicesource.co.uk/

Hope they are still stocking at this price (think it must have been a mistake)

Best Regards
Mike

Have also sent a PM (belt and braces)

It may be the cable that connects the inverter board to the motherboard, try flexing it in the place where it folds under the hinge cover, there may be a broken wire. I have the same/similar problem but I cannot read the part number on the label attached to the cable. Can anybody supply the part number and a place to purchase a replacement cable?
