Hi Bekos,
I've tried the Iso from the French Ubuntu forum, it works well for me!
After some fiddling with the language settings (it runs in French by default) I managed to install it dual boot alongside the factory-original Vista.
Everything seems to be working out of the box with that Iso.
I've also tried compiling a custom kernel and putting together a custom livecd of my own, but that ended without the desired result. The cd gave nothing but errors, probably due to my lack of kernel-compiling-knowledge..
So the existing Iso from the French forum seems to be the easy option.
If you choose to run the livecd in "live" mode and install from within the live session, you can choose to install in English (or any other language).
However, the resulting installed system still defaults back to French, so you have to change both the session language as well as the default logon screen language.
After that, you have a beautifully working Ubuntu 9.04 system on your Amilo Xa2528!
Hope this helps, cheers!
