Remove vista on amilo LI 1705

Hello.

What a great site you got. Just the right website
to post my question on my FS amilo LI1705 with vista basic.

Is it possible to remove vista and install win xp instead ?
And can i use and "old" recovery xp home cd i got
years ago? I know it came with another notebook years ago,
but do i have to register online if i succeed in installing the cd?

See you.

Jango.

It is possible to use XP, probably with some workarounds like integrating SATA drivers...
Edit: See topic,708,-install-windows-xp-pro-sp2-on-Amilo-Li-1705.html

In Germany it is allowed to use an OEM license on another computer (here it's also allowed to sell such a license, this was a court decision).
So I think it depends on your country. And you're right, you have to activate the XP installation - online or via phone.

Hello again.

I live in denmark so i just have to try and
see what happens if i succeed installing xp.

Another problem is that the license nr for the
cd is gone so it could be a problem.

I will return soon on how, and what to do in order
to remove vista and install xp.

Thank's for your help.

Jango.
