try laptopvideo2go...
i find something on there and says that critical temperature is near 136...
i dont think so that is real but my gpu on idle is 64-68 Celsius degries like yours...

My xa2528 runs really bad when temperatures for GPU passes 80 degrees. For me, the temp is 80-85 C. And that is NOT good. When game is just started, it ok, after just 30 seconds, performance sucks. I will get a notebook cooler ZALMAN nc-2000
Why cant they design better for cooling? Was I silly to get a thin and strong laptop?

hi,
i think ur laptop is too hot, i think on 2 things: cpu is runing on full speed( not laptop performace settings, maybe not correct instalations if u use other than vista) second is
ur vga is running with power mizer off settings( dont change power profile from performance automaticly).

If this 2 things not real in your case it means u have to make a maintenance on your laptop. After i made this, my highest reached temperature
which was around 92 grade Ceslius when play, its comes back to the original 81 grade. Dont forget to flash to use the latest bios version(dont turn the
cooler off to evade the nvidia chipset problems). Check the webpage to some typical errors and if appears write a message to the support they will make
what they can. Also the maintenance they can do in repair shop without breaking the guarantee.

hints: If u dont play and u use vista u can use the cooler button to turn throttle on and this will reduce the cpu usage and it becomes cooler.
This "button" is working on all vista base os: Vista (all), windows server 2008, and windows 7.

Oh i read your post again.
That 30 seconds means that ur powermizer is working.
Ask the support for maintenance.

I have had enormous problem with high temp. I just opened the large lid below, and there I saw a naked graphic chip, it was written "nvidia". Quite obvious. And I saw some glue on top of it. Somewhere else, a few cm away from the chip, I saw the cupper cooling plate, with glue on it, same shape as the glue on the graphics chip.
I wish they could have fastened the cooling plate better...

hi,
im sad to hear this.
I found my in the same way...thats the motherboard chip.
The two vga chip is under the large cooler which was used to attach that small copper plate.
Two vga chip are: 6150 and 8600M i think. I think not this makes the problem.
But sad to see that the manufacturing is so poor.

Try to change the thermal conductive film on the cpu. And clear the cooler. Beetween the cooler and
the radiator part its a small area(around 1 mm) where the dust just sit down. But in your place is better to ask the
support. The g84 chips also has some guarantee from the nvidia because that problematic
build material. Maybe they change for you.

Have luck!!!

Are you sur thats the motherboard chip? it was written "nvidia" on it. Anyway, performance was better than before after attaching the cooling plate.. I will call the support and have a look inside again.

yes, im sure.
U can see something like nvidia mcp. This means multimedia control chip.
The vga chips are under the large heatsink near.
if u have overheating problems on this chip the best is to go to support.
Im not realy get performance drop.
(after reataching and starting my laptop i have the same performance like before.)
So...better to go to the support. They will change for you... I hope.
I wish you the best...in this case!have luck and repairs included on guarantee.

FSC refers to workshop, and they say its not their business.
I log the temp with speedfan, and its remarkable what happens when I start to play. The CPU goes right up, the curve is cut at 85 degrees, I suppose thats when performance is reduced to save the computer and the fan goes berserk. I get abt 3 fps, and I die and crash aircrafts, very dramatically.
No dust inside. The exhausted air is tremendously hot of course. Maybe I will get a zalman notebook cooler. Or put an icecube tray below the computer.
Maybe I can sell the computer to an eskimo.

Its a real sad thing, to read your lines about FSC and their workshop`s answer.
Some things what i know: if you play from vista:turn off the throttle. (the button with fan graphics above)
The normal working temperatures when you play: is 80-81 degrees in Celsius.
This laptop for real not a "Gaming laptop", and not play smooth any video above 720p quality.
Under Xp and Vista you can try the nvidia`s drivers instead of FSC`s driver because its newer.(motherboard and graphics)
Under Xp you get better performance. The vga is an entry level one, not good for gaming.
The 4Gb ram upgrade not give`s you performance more than 5%.

Against the temperature: I buyed many computers. The advice is change the thermal conductive paste under the cooler.
(Both cpu and vga part.) Check that coolers(radiators) are good fitted. Check the laptop`s bios update`s at FSC website.
I not recomend to use the fan upgrade bios.( when i buyed before the overheating the laptops cooler can be silenced and turned off when the
temperature going under 40 degrees when you just browsing the internet.
After update the fan never stops and the laptop remains noisy to take care about nvidiasb bad builded chips: motherboard and vga also.)

I can`t say what you doing whit your own laptop. This a recomendtions without varanty.
I used Arctic silver ceramic thermal paste(not the adesive because after you cant take down the cooler from chips, and your chips will fail
when you force to take down the cooler) (misspellings are possibles also)
Try to subscribe to FSC support to resale your laptop and change to a newer one:recomendations Sa3650+xgp(aroudn 1000 Eur) or some with dedicated vga with intel CPU.(maybe Xi3550 i not remembre the correct type)

Have a nice Weekend!
I hope in your Luck!

You have been most helpful and friendly - thanks!
I dismounted the fan, even though I could not notice any dust before. Heat sink was not totally clean. The computer was for a short while in the kitchen, maybe thats why. Nothing was blocking, but still heat transfer could improve. I think it helped a little. The curve is not that steep up to 85 degrees, where I believe that the prformance drops significantly. Temp just reaches 85, and stays up there just sporadically, curve goes down a little (maybe 1 second), then up. Before it went up, was flat for 10 seconds, then fell down for a second.
I can play Battlefield 2!
If I am not imagining this time, it is rly important to have the heat sink totally clean, not just from dust, because there is no margin. The heat sink barely makes it. If the swedish summer will be fine cooling will not be enough, there will be no gaming, but I will be busy swimming anyway :)

Thanks again h3llr3is3r, have a nice weekend you too:)
