Problems with Win XP pro inst on a D7830

Postby Berro » Thu Feb 07, 2008 1:25 am

Hi.
I have an Alimo d7830 and I’ve changed my defective original HD.
Then I tried to install Windows XP Pro with an original CD (not recovery, that one is defect).
When I do this, the laptop reports that it do not find the HD.
I tried on Fujitsu Siemens website, and there it says that no additional drivers are necessary, but I have my doubts on that info. :?

Anyone have an idea were to get the right drivers, and a step by step guide to install my Windows implementing these drivers during the installation.

:) It’ll pleas me a lot if so. :)
:-) Help someone and someone gone help u ;-)

Is the HD plugged in correctly? Does the Bios recognise it?
What about booting from a Live-CD? Does this OS recognise the HD?

Are you sure, that your old disk is defective and not the controller in your notebook?

The old Hard drive: :(
- It doesn’t spin up (no familiar sound)
- Then I tried it in a Linux Desktop of mine, and it du not appear there.

The new Hard drive: :)
- The BIOS the Bios recognise it, and report it back correctly.
- Haven’t tried it on a "Live CD" yet.
- I'll try it to morrow on an "Ubuntu CD" just in case.

:) Tanx U all

you dont need additional drivers, but you might need servicepack 2 to make it work.
Create a setup CD with SP2 and try hardware reset and BIOS reset as described here topic,11,-Hardware-F-A-Q.html

You cannot download a recovery CD since it is a valid windows setup cd. But you can buy one from FSC

Hi.
Then I have tried some more, but no success.
Some new issues has arrived.

After I tried all I could think of, I tried with an other HD a old 20 GB IDE disk (Hitachi DK23DA-20F) then the disk appeared right a way.

My Question is:
When I tried my new disk (WD800VE IDE ATA/100),witch my BIOS are able to identify, are there anything wit this disk, like that it do not work, is too big, is too fast or something like this ???
Do I have to by my an other disk ???
:-) Help someone and someone gone help u ;-)
