Amilo Pro V3205 - Blank screen problem

Postby tuLL » Thu Feb 07, 2008 5:23 pm

Hello

I've searched around the forum and found a lot of blank screen problems, but none were like mine.

My problem is very strange.

It is ocasional. Normally when I'm surfing the web on Opera.

What happens is that the screen goes Black all over or gray sometimes. And the PC is not stopped, every command I make when the screen is blank is done.

Even the CTRL+ALT+DEL routine is done. But the screen continues blank.

I normally solve the problem by going into and out of Sleep mode.

Is this a hardware problem, a glitch, a bug?

Should I take the PC for repair?

Thank you

Indeed strange ;-)

Can you close and reopen the lid, does it affect the screen? (Backlight is switched off and on.)

Probably it doesn't work, I think it's a problem with the graphics card - going into sleep mode ensures that graphics is shut down (powerless) and restarted when resuming.

Haven't tried your option yet, still waiting for it to happen.

If it is a problem with the graphics card, do you think it's a bug or a malfunction? Should I try and sent it to warranty (that would be a pain) ?

Thanks for your reply:)

Similar blank screen problem with Amilo Si1520

Postby RayBee » Tue May 27, 2008 9:56 pm

I posted the following on the Fujitsu-Siemens forum, and it is a very similar problem.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
My Amilo Si1520 exhibits the following problem, but only when on battery power, even though the battery is well charged, holds its charge, and has an hour or two left to run.

The screen flickers occasionally, and eventually goes blank. Not necessarily black - sometimes it's a single colour. The laptop is still running (sounds continue to play, lights are all as expected), but no key presses or mouse movement will get the screen working again. If I close the lid, wait for the loud sleep beeps, and then reopen the lid, the screen comes back again and all is OK, until next time.

Any ideas? The Amilo is over a year old and as mentioned above the battery seems to be charging and holding its charge OK.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

It has never happened when powered by the mains supply, and as with the original posted problem here the notebook is obviously still running normally, except with the screen not working until put to sleep and reawakened.

Hi there!

Thanks for the reply!

I think one of the last updates for the graphic card drivers solved the problem. I even think it was a previous update to the graphic card drivers that ruined it.

I'm not having this problems anymore (at least not that I remember), try to update your drivers!

Thanks! Good luck:)

My problem is similar but in this case the screen is white but closing the lid and forcing sleep mode the opening the lid brings it normal. However the driver updates have not solved the problem for amilo l 1310.

I had the same problem on my si1520. I had done a fresh install using the latest graphics drivers from Intel dated february 2008.
I solved the problem by uninstalling the latest drivers from intel and reverting back to an older driver from 2006 that I downloaded from:
http://support.fujitsu-siemens.com/com/ ... loads.html

Hint, The Grphics Driver is not listed as "Graphics Driver" but as "Device Driver" third from the bottom, at least for the si1520.
That took me a while to figure out.

Hope this works for you as well!

Same here. I had the same problem in my V3205 for a long time (about a year). And now I downloaded and installed that same driver as OnionSWE did and the problem seems to begone.

Problem driver I was using was version "6.14.10.4926"

And the driver which solves the problem is little older version "6.14.10.4497" and

file name "FTS_MobileIntel945GMExpressChipsetFamily_614104497_1005198.ZIP".

Cheers
