A6600 BIOS Reset  Topic is solved

Postby thistlewillow » Fri Feb 08, 2008 11:53 am

How can I reset the BIOS on my A6600? I got this laptop secondhand, and it has a BIOS password that I was never told. When the laptop is turned off, the screen goes bright white instead of black, so I reckon I need to reset the BIOS as a first step, but I am not sure how to?

Will the reset also reset the password too, or am I completely stuffed?

BIOS reset fixed keyboard problem

Postby thistlewillow » Sun Feb 24, 2008 5:49 pm

Managed to clear the BIOS using a fairly unorthodox method. This has restored the BIOS to fully available and configurable. One happy coincidence however, was the remedy to a problem I had where the keyboard was not displaying the correct characters according to the keys pressed - a bit like the wrong keyboard regional setting. Any key with a special function associated did not print its main character unless the Function key was pressed too.

Now it all works normally - phew!!
