Amilo Pro v2060 DC Input Module

Postby fuzzzy » Wed Feb 13, 2008 8:33 pm

The centre pin of the DC Input has become loose making charging a nightmare on a v2060 amilo pro I am having a look at for a friend. I presume that this is going to entail a complete stripdown and to either re-solder/replace the input module on the circuit board. Now while I am proficient in doing this type of work I would always prefer to have a service manual handy and would appreciate an help in this area.
Secondly and , I suppose, most importantly should the module not be repairable does anyone have any idea where, apart from ebay, that I might be able to souce a replacement.
Although I would check back here from time to time a reply to my email address of info@kcgcomputers.co.uk would be appreciated and if by leaving my email I am contravening forum policy then I apologise.
Cheers Lads

Yeah, sounds like the problem I am having with my M3438G.

Although, one thing I am going to check with my own is trying another power supply just in case it is the socket on that and not the pin in the laptop (i.e. before opening the bugger up!)

I'm waiting for replies from Fujitsu-Siemens, who will no doubt just want to use the opportunity to charge me ridiculous money to resolve the situation, but I'll be sure to post my findings anyway.

I have up till now seen that is a common problem with amilos of this age and my personal opinion after reading all of the posts, comments etc is that the dc input if really a weak one...what I am planning to do tomorrow after speaking with the owner is to re-solder the connection and then try to strengthen it...if this is not posssible , and as this is a common interface, is to replace it with another make input but of the same type..
will let you know if this works ok..

Hey Guys,

Same problem here, only with this one (my Cousin's) the entire pin has fallen out of the middle of the input port!

so a strip down and re-solder a new one onto the board sounds like a plan....

any ideas where I could get one from? the model is Amilo L7310GW

Cheers
