SD card problems with Amilo A 1630

Postby Micke » Wed Feb 27, 2008 8:26 pm

Hi!

I'm a new registered user to this forums an I am in need of some help if it's available.

I have an Amilo A 1630 and for some reason I can't get my SD card reader to recognize any card I put in it. I have tried with one Sandisk 256 MB card and a SandiskUltra II 1GB card.

I have 2*O2Micro OZ711M1/MC1 MemoryCardBus Controller registered under PCMCIA-Card

I I try to use the function "Search for ...." (It's in Swe and I am too tired to try to translate atm) I get a message of a new Basesystem Devise which I can't seem to find a driver for. I suppose this is the part doing that I can't get anything to happen when I insert a card in my reader.

Would be very happy if anyone have any suggestions of what to do. I have tried to reinstall my computer without any difference and it was working when I got it about three years ago.

Seems like you didn't install chipset-drivers.
If you do so, your card-reader should be detected and work automatically.

Ok, next stupid question, what may the name of that chipset be? Will try to figure it out myself but would appreciate the name anyway incase I don't manage to find it, I have tried with FS helpdesk but I can't really get anything useful there and they didn't reply when I mailed them.

Only chipset driver I find on the downloadpage for my comp is: Chipset - SiS Accelerated Graphics Port..

And why don't you give this driver a try?

Didn't see any connection between Graphics accelerator and Smartcard reader

But I will try to install that one and see if I get any difference.

Tried to install/reinstall the driver with the same result.

In the PCMCIA-Card I only have the two items I previous mentioned and I have one Basesytem device that I don't know what driver I need to install for.

The unknown system device has the ID: PCI\VEN_1217&DEV_7110&SUBSYS_105F1734&REV_00\3&267A616A&0&4A
if that can be of any use.

Found out what that was. O2Micro OZ711Mx MemoryCardBus Accelerator
now I only need ti find out where to get that one, couldn't find it in Add new hardware in my XP

Do you have SP2 installed? Then it should work.

Otherwise drivers can easily be found by just inserting in google:
"O2Micro OZ711Mx" XP driver

one example:

I have sp2 but I don't have the driver on my comp for some reason. I don't tend to use google, more of an altavista friend, and did search there. This far I have only come up with alot of different device listings and links to driverguide.com and actually 1 downloadable file but it's a real slow connection. Will try your link and see if that's better.

Thanks for the help.

This is getting silly. Now I have found the driver for the accellerator and installed it. I also have the PCMCIA PCI/ATAPI driver. If I insert an SD card it responds withthe sound and the Safe remove icon shows up in the lower right field. BUT! I can't access my cards, it only shows PCMCIA PCI/ATAPI driver but no drives attached to it.

Any suggestion for the next step?

Don't you see the card at all or can you just not access it?
In the second case, reformatting the card may help.

All I can see is when I open the "safe remove program" is the PCMCIA IDE/ATAPI controller. Nothing else, nothing to format or anything else. If I remember correct the card should display under the controller with the appropiate n: depending on what letter is free to use. The card works fine in my MIO GPS and I have copied things to it from this computer before so the formt on it is ok too.

In the german forum somebody mentioned, that it worked after he removed the card-reader from the device-manager, ran a hardware-detection and installed the driver again.
Maybe you should try other drivers too.
