M1437G unable to boot

Postby cattytown » Tue Mar 11, 2008 3:43 pm

I have an M1437G and it won't boot.

I can see the hard drive if I enter the raid config, where I can do nothing as only one drive is not enough to do raid.

Under the BIOS, It reports the DVD as the primary drive - it does not see the HD. I can boot OK from a CD.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Paul.

As the M1437G isn't a current model I assume that it worked for a long time.
Something must have changed. Did you change any Bios-settings, or the hardware?

No changes made - for a while it was getting reluctant to boot, but normally did after a few attempts...

Seems like the Interface doesn't work properly.

The first thing you can do is a hardware-reset. I don't think that it will solve your problem, but it will have no negative effect.

Second you should check if the HDD is connected correctly to the controller. Sometimes they become lose after a while and have to be replugged.

If this still doesn't work, you should try another HDD. Most likely the interface of your HDD is damaged. Maybe you can make your current HDD run in another computer to save your data.

The worst case I can imagine is, that the interface mounted on your mainboard is defective. If this is the case, even another HDD will not work. To repair this would mean to exchange the mainboard, what makes no sense in financial terms.
