si1520 lcd replacement

Postby tjl » Sun Mar 30, 2008 5:50 pm

broken my display in my Si1520 comp (12" WXGA 1280x800). Anyone know if where to get a new (or used) cheap? Need to be shipped to denmark.

Can one replace the display with any 12"? Do it need to be WXGA, and do it have to be an original sparepart, or can any 12" wxga do? What about the resolution, any difference?

Your bios has to support the display afaik. You could contact a service partner of FSC and try to get them to tell you which displays the notebook (officially) supports.
(Of course it is possible that others work, but I don't know.)

The display of the Amilo Pro V3205 will fit. Both models are nearly identical.
If you accept the usual risks, look for a display at ebay.
Spare parts or defective notebooks are sold there often.

I don't know if it has to be a widescreen display to make it work, but I would strongly recommend to buy one, since others may work but will not fit into your housing.
