L1300 no backlight due to software?  Topic is solved

Postby jamesg374 » Thu Apr 03, 2008 1:30 pm

I have an Amilo L1300 and the backlight has stopped working so i can only see the screen very faintly. Sometimes when it boots the screen is bright for a few seconds but always goes dim. I think it is a software problem not hardware as when I try to plug an external monitor in it doesn't work. Also the porblem occured when i lent the computer for use at a conference!

I have tried the obvious Fn+Fkeys settings to no avail, so I am wondering what else I can do? It is very hard to read the screen enough to do anything useful, it is even like that in bios and after I boot from a CD. Is there a hardware CMOS reset or some bios video card setting? Or something else I can change from within windows?

I solved this. After booting up with the laptop in pieces it worked fine, so I discovered it was a dodgy lid switch, I poked at it randomly with a paper clip and it now works normally.
