Usb 2.0

Postby Louis3 » Fri Apr 11, 2008 9:30 am

Hello. I have Amilo M3438G with XP .. I am trying to use an external HD to the usb ports and does not read it as a Usb 2.0..Its the first time I tryed to use Usb 2.0 compatible Device. I tryed to all Usb ports and its read it as a 1.0.. Its says me "The USB device can perform faster if you connect it to a Hi-Speed USB 2.0 port" Maybe its the drivers I dont know. Please help me.

What kind of HDD is it and how is the power supply managed?
For external HDDs an extra power pack is the best solution. Most 3,5"-drives only work this way.
If you don't have this possbility and you have a 2,5"-drive you should at least use a Y-USB-cable to connect the HDD to two USB-ports of your notebook to increase the power supply.

What does this mean? Do you use an extra power pack for the disk?
