I bought an Amilo Si-1520 yesterday. When we tried it briefly in the shop, it ran off the battery for a minute or so.
After getting it home I plugged it into the mains, played with it a bit (install Firefox, nothing fancy), then turned it off and let it charge overnight.
The next day I played with it some more, and then I removed the mains while it was running, and it turned itself off! I was expecting it to run off battery while I moved it, of course.
After rebooting (with mains back in), I checked in the Windows control panel and it said the battery was missing. But the battery is in, and it's never been touched.
Then I looked at the battery light on the front, which should be on and it's not...
So I powered it down, removed mains, removed the battery, put the battery back in, put the mains back in, and rebooted... just incase of some dirty contact with the battery.
But again, no battery.
I tried that again, same result.
This is a brand new Si-1520 I bought yesterday. Now I'm worried and I'll have to send it back under warranty.
But first I thought I'd check if it's a known software/BIOS problem rather than broken electronics.
Oh, I've tried the hardware reset mentioned elsewhere on this forum: remove mains, remove battery, hold down power button for 10 seconds. That hasn't made any difference. Also the BIOS version is already 1.07 so there is no update.
Anyone recognise this problem?
Thanks,
