amilo a 1630 ram upgrade

Postby john watling » Sun Aug 13, 2006 9:35 pm

Hi, i'm pretty new to the technical side of computers, but i am contemplating upgrading the RAM on my amilo a1630 from 512mb to either 1GB or 2GB depending on the price.

please could you give me some advice on the maximum amount of RAM i can install and on what type i need to buy.

also are there any good sites which guide you through the install process.

thanks for the help

john.

2 GB RAM is possible according to the German forum:
http://www.amilo-forum.de/topic,7122,-A ... B-Ram.html
(There are some people who bought MDT DDR-400 and reported it to work, but generally every known brand should be good.)

You need DDR-RAM, 333 or better 400 MHz (PC2700 or PC3200), 200 pins. DDR2-RAM does not work!

ya, it should be... unscrew a few screws and connect it in.
But, if i was you, i'd always rather let a IT friend of mine (who has done it before) do it and then watch what he does, because we all know, when u break something on a laptop... its KARK expensive to fix.
