Pi2550 XP drivers problem

Postby srxy » Sun May 18, 2008 4:52 pm

Two days ago I bought Amilo Pi2550. Unfortunately, in original package I did not find any OS or drivers disk. I consult your forum and menage to install most of the stuff.

Still I did not install:
1. Infrared interface
2. Memory card slot (separate slot on the right side of notebook)
3. Express card slot (on the left side)
4. WebCam (1.3Mpixel, built in) - I tried with bison webcam, recommended here, but no success
5. Still have one `Unknown device` under System devices

In addition, it looks that system is slow and hanging for a second or two and do not react on mouse click (closing and switching between windows etc.)

After two days and 24 working hours of searching, reseting, surfing and suffering.....PLEASE HELP

Seems like your chipset driver is missing.
As far as I know the Vista-driver works with XP too.

Situation changed...

Well,

I reinstalled XP SP2 again (disk formatted before) and took a care of installing drivers:, first ATI graphics, second chipset and processor drivers (Intel download site) and than Realtek audio (modem is recognized by system itself when Realtek audio drivers are installed). Wireless, touchpad etc.

Everything works except mysterious ``Other Device``.

I contacted sellers support and they did not have a solution. They know the problem but still no solution. Looks that this is something connected with memory - they say.

System is no more hanging but still some problems with Acrobat 7.0. Professional and Firefox.

Acrobat - when I`m exiting program, there is a wornning that ``Program is terminated because memory is corrupted``.

Firefox - when switching between Tabs, system is reseting by itself. Blue screen stay less than second, so I can not read properly - I recognized word `memory` in first row, but.....

Than I installed Direct X 9.0. and it looks that I solve the problem with Firefox, but Acrobat is still complaing. We will see.

Thank you anyway for your effort and patience for my bad englsh.

All the best

Maybe your RAM is corrupted. Please run memtest86+

The other device most likely is the intel turbo memory. There is only a dummy driver for XP. It will make the warning disappear but the component will not work.

Well,

Memtest86+ ... said no errors.

I also tried Intel TurboMemory - but mysterious device is still here.

I just discovered that it is possible that I have a problem with Acrobat Pro, not with notebook.
If I use menu (File/Exit) Acrobat is closing normal. When I click on red Close button, Acrobat shows a warning about memory. I will update ACrobat and see.

Anyway, it looks that we did everything possible. So far, Firefox run smoothly and I will fix this problem with AcrobatPro.

Thank you very much for your kind support
