Location of Ram and Access Instructions?

Postby acoolwelshbloke » Mon Aug 14, 2006 7:32 pm

Now I know there is another thread topic,108,-Location-of-Memory-Slots.html with some information.

However I have a v2030 and I wish to upgrade it's memory, I belive the ram is also located under the keyboard. How do I remove everything to gain access?

Anyone have instructions in english?

After all I don't want to start ripping my casing to bits in order to gain access and find I cause damage due to incorrectly removing things.

Any information would be a great help.... :)

I don't know this model, but sometimes there is a screw on the bottom of the notebook (labeled "KB").
You can get the keyboard out with something small and flat (e.g. a flat-blade screwdriver).

It should work without force ;-)

I checked and there is no screw labelled kb!

There are two compartments underneath one the size of the hard disk, prob for the hard disk and another one which looks like it gives access to the bottom of the mobo!

I can't belive there is no documentation anywhere on the net or with the device itself!

FS just ignore you!

It's my first and last time purchasing any FS equiptment I can tell you that much.

Hi !

I'm sorry this answer is a bit late and you've probably already solved your problem.

Actually, getting access to the RAM-slots is very easy on the v2030. It's not under the keyboard !

There's a big service panel at the bottom of the device. Just open the screws. The panel is still held back, but there's a place to fit a screw driver under. Gently pull the panel with the screw driver, you don't need much force.

When opened you can easily access the RAM-slots, the fan (important for cleaning, I had to do it several times !) and if you need to the CPU (under the heatpipe. You might want to buy a cheap Pentium M and put it in for saving power).

Nice one thanks for the info! :)
