xi2550 battery time

Postby marmore » Mon May 26, 2008 7:00 pm

Hi everybody.

I have a xi2550, nice machine, but I am worried about the battery time. I can get maximun, but maximun, around 70 minutes of battery.

Is this normal?

Depending on the usage it can be normal that the battery only lasts one hour.
The declared battery runtime is for office and music only.
If you play games, watch videos, run CPU- or HDD-intensive programms the runtime will drop.

What do you do when working on battery?

Well, one time the computer was only power on to see how much the battery last. So, basically I did nothing, and that time I had around 70 minutes.

I checked the datasheet. The Xi 2550 has a quite weak battery (only 2200mAh).
I think the 2 hours that are stated there, are nearly impossible without major modifications.
Mine has 4800mAh and I can only reach the 4 hours stated by FSC with a lot of tricks.
I think for you 90 minutes is a realistic runtime with a new battery.

So depending on the age and some other influences 70 minutes seem to be ok.
How old is your notebook?
And how did you treat the battery? Has it always been inserted or do you remove it, when you work with the power pack? At which capacity do you you normally start to recharge it?

I have this machine from december last year.

It is always in there, I didn't remove it more that one more time. And usually if I start using the battery I wait until the computer to almost shutdown because the lack of power.

Can I buy new batteries that can manage to keep the computer powered on more time?

Some tests confirm your experiences.
As far as I know, there is no stronger battery available.

I think you willl have to live with the short runtime.

well... it is ok. I mean, if is the way it is, it is the way it is :)

I don't really mind, I was just thinking that if something is wrong it should be fixed.

Thanks again for your answers.
