I know this isn't really the place to be posting questions about building an in car PC but I know there are some very knowlegable people on this forum who's opinions I trust, the carPC forums tent to be full of petrolheads and not tech minded people so here I am.

The processor I have sat here is a Celeron M 370 (pulled from my trusty Amilo Pro V2030), here are the specs from intel;

I'm just hoping somebody can tell me if this processor will work at the correct speed with this board;

The link here says it will work with a Celeron M 370 1.5GHz, but they are selling a different Celeron M 370 than the one I have sat here in front of me. I know from replacing the mobile processor in this laptop I'm using now the Pentium M and Celeron M line of processors are a bit more complicated to match with a board than a standard desktop processor.

Any help would be greatly appreciated here, I'm wanting to crack on with the build but not throw money down the drain buying the wrong board for my processor.

Why do you think it's a different Celeron M370?

If you look at the photograph on their website it's an SL8MM and the one I have here is an SL86J, the only difference I can find is their processor has a voltage range of .988V-1.292V whereas mine is locked at 1.26V.

Could this be an issue?

It should work.
The voltage specs of your CPU are within the specs of the SL8MM and the socket is the same for all M370.

I gave the retailer a call today, he said if the processor doesn't work then I could swap the board for one with onboard processor. So I ordered the board and hopefully it should be with me tomorrow, I'll let you know how it works out.

Well I recieved the motherboard today whilst at work, I was really quite suprised to see just how small this thing is. It picked the processor up as a Celeron M which was fine, however I was a little alarmed to see the processor was clocking in at 2.0 GHz. This is because the FSB on the board is 133MHz and not 100MHz like the laptop I took the processor from, I didn't think to check this out first. Everything seems to run OK with no heat issues, the voltage was sitting fine at 1.26V. Would this worry any of you guys or would you see it as a bonus? I've never overclocked anything in my life as I see it as a way to kill your perfectly good hardware.

Maybe you have to set a jumper or choose the correct FSB in the BIOS?

Of course it's nice if it works at 2 GHz ;-) You have to make sure that the cpu runs stable (-> sufficient voltage for 2 GHz) - Prime95 is a good stability test.
Test both on AC and only on battery, in different conditions (hot, cool environment) and do things like increasing/decreasing the brightness, burning a cd/dvd... Almost everything can cause voltage fluctuations, it's possible that these little jumps let the notebook freeze or the cpu just returns wrong results.

The temperature isn't really affected, because the voltage is the same. It's a bit of luck with the quality of the cpu. On the german forum several users did a "pinmod" to overclock a Pentium M with e.g. 1.7 GHz to 2,26 Ghz - and in most cases it works fine. (I never heard of any overheating issues, "only" instability because the overclocked cpu didn't work with the original voltage.)

Thanks for the info Aaron, I didn't think jumpers were still used to select fsb and voltage. I have set the fsb jumper to 400 now but I'm a little unsure what to do about the voltage jumper, I only have the option to set the voltage at 1.5V or 1.8V. The voltage for the processor is locked at 1.26V, is this going to cause me any problems running the CPU at 1.5V?
