Crash on Amilo T7200

Postby Elberion » Sun Jun 29, 2008 3:53 pm

Hi Amilo Community,

Since a Year that i have an Amilo t7200 dual core 17º widescreen with a Ati mobility radeon 1800 pro. It never gave me problems and more than taking it anyway i use it more like a workstation.

But in the last months more and more crashs occure while im playing. The screen freezes then turns black and i have to force a reboot. The normal cpu temperature when i'm not playing is about 50º and when i do, 60º. The crashes happen only when i play and with all the games...such as warcraft 3 that doesn't requiere much graphic power.

Don't know where the problem might be...lately i opened it and cleaned it carefully putting the dust out, but the crashes continued.

Hope you can help me and sorry for my english, i'm not a costumer to it.

Since you wrote that you have a 17" notebook I don't think that the HDD gets to hot.
But you should check if it is faulty. I assume that you run WinXP, so please run checkdisk!
The memory could also cause these problems. Please check it with memtest86!

btw:
It would be nice to tell us the name of your model. "T7200" only gives information about the CPU.
Most likely this will be an X followed by an i and a number consisting of four digits (e.g. Xi 1546).
Maybe there are some problems specific to more notebooks of your model and somebody with the same notebook can give you an advise.

Yes its an amilo Xi1546 ^^ running on WinXP.

I've checked checkdisk on the disks and it found and repaired some errors on the windows partition. Now I will run memtest and play a bit to see if the problem was there.
Thx for the fast answer.

Have fun with your game! ;-)

But please give memtest some more time to produce a meaningful result. Sometimes it needs more than only one attempt to find an error.
Running it over night has proven to be a good stategy.

Ok , memtest passed a couple of times and all was ok, no errors.
The problem still persist :(
I don't what it could be, maybe the graphic card? maybe the grapics memory is defect...is there some program to check it out?

Maybe it is the graphics card. But I don't know how to check this.
If this is the case I would think that the rest still works, even if the display hangs or goes black.
Is your sound still ok when this happens?

Can you see any problems in the "event log" (especially in "Application" and "System")?

Screen turns to black and the sound collapses too...repeating 1 or 2 notes evertime

Haven't found nothing in the log that happend the days the crashes are occuring.

I've noticed that on cooler days it doesn't happen...but that makes no sense because the cpu temperature is about 60º and last year, when i had not the cooling sistem it went up to 80º, without crashing.

Thx for all, i really apreciate it :)
