Mac OS X on Amilo Li 1718?

Postby YOzefff » Wed Jul 16, 2008 4:50 pm

Hi,

I was trying to install Max OS X on my Amilo Li 1718 laptop (Intel Celeron M). Everything goes well, I can boot from the install DVD, it sees my SATA HDD and installs.

But when the install is complete and after rebooting, the boot sequence is stopped. When I boot Darwin with the -v option, I get a lot of output and then it just stops. I can't really see what is causing this, but I'm guessing it's the audio ... I think ...

Has anybody tried to install OS X on a Amilo Li 1718?

greets

Would you please let us know how you solved your problem?
Was it really the audio or did you first try a version below Leopard?

I don't know if Mac OS supports the Atheros WLAN chipset.
In the german forum there is a user who made Leopard work on a Si 1520 which uses an Intel module.
He didn't say explicitely that WLAN worked but at least he didn't complain that it did not.
Maybe this module will work for you too.

oh jah ... of course ..

first of .. I've used [removed title]

right after the screen where you have to click the drive where to install on to, you'll get a screen and on the left you'll see a button "customize". You can customize you install (extra packages etc) and I've included ALL the audio drivers and all the network drivers. After that just install and reboot and it's up and running (well except of the wifi).

hope it helps

greets

Of course:
http://www.amilo-forum.de/topic,21781,15,-si-1520-mit-4GB-Ram.html

The user who installed hackintosh is macdet.

A short summary of his posts:
- first he mentiones that he finally made it work after running into a "read error" on his first attempt. (besides he complains about the bios wasting time while counting his RAM ;-) the rest of this post is about the bios)
- in the next post he is happy how fine everything works after having solved some selfmade bootloader problems (so nothing about WLAN, what to me sounds like a good sign)

Here is a link to his website where he summarized what he did to install hackintosh (english):
http://wiki.mobbing-gegner.de/OSx86_Project/

I think he would like to give you some tips if possible.
