Amilo Pi 2550 Vista driver

Postby bobans » Sun Jul 20, 2008 3:56 am

Hi everyone,

I recently bought Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Pi 2550. I did a clean install of Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit but I don't have the driver CD. Now I am confused about the driver installation. Which drivers to install:

1. from fsc support
2. from manufacturer

I want to get the latest drivers.

Secondly, do I need to do BIOS upgrade? (There are some versions on the fsc support. If it is recomended to do BIOS upgrade which BIOS version)

Third, do I need to install SATA driver. What is the benefit of this driver in Vista?

Finally, about the Intel Turbo Memory driver.... what is this driver for. Should I install it?

I recommend you to use the drivers that FSC provides. These are not the latest ones but they will work. If you need newer ones you can replace them one by one.

A BIOS-upgrade is not necessary.

You don't need to install SATA-drivers. It is only necessary if the Vista-installation doesn't detect your HDD. This doesn't seem to be the case.

The "Intel Turbo Memory" is an onboard flash memory that works like a USB-stick used as a "Ready Boost"-device. I would install the driver. Most likely you will not notice any change but the annoying exclamation mark will disappear from your device manager. And maybe the notebook will feel faster because you know the turbo memory is working (placebo effect). ;-)

Thanks allot. This info that you gave me is very useful.

Maybe I will just install the latest ATI Catalist Suite software for my display adapter (using the Mobility Moder of course). The rest of the drivers I will install from the FSC (is this wise decision?)

Thanks again.

placebo effect... loool

I think using the latest Catalyst is a good choice. Don't forget to install the chipset driver in advance.

I use Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit. I tried with 3-4 drivers and I always think that something isn't right. Can U please paste me link of the latest driver for this chipset.

Did you try the driver from the FSC-site?

What does it mean?:

Just to make sure... by Don't forget to install the chipset driver in advance. you ment that I should install the chipset driver first and then the Catalist driver, right?

yes I have that driver which works fine. It is a chipset driver Version 8.3.0.1013 from 05.03.2007.

something isn't right means that i have problem when trying to download the latest chipset driver from the intel.com website (is this good idea?)
I really don't know if the latest infinst_autol.exe which is Version 9.0.0.1008 From May 01 2008 is good for me. (can U please confirm that this is the latest chipset software for Mobile Intel(R) GM965 Express Chipset, I am not quite sure it is :() And when I try to download it it offers me to chose the Operating System. My OS is Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit. Under that OS there is NO chipset driver!

Right!

Why do you want to install another chipset driver if your current one works fine?

Intel says that the newer drivers have fixed some issues... well this is the only reason I want to try the newes driver version

but the main thing for me is to get running system. So I would keep the FSC driver for the chipset (and all the rest devices). The only driver update I should do is the display driver ...

P.S. I found that there is a newest version of ATI Catalyst ... the 8.7. Do you suggest I mod this driver and install it on my Amilo Pi 2550 (ATI Mobility Radeon HD 2400)

I can't give you any advise.

If you would like to try it, then just do it and see what happens.
