Short freezes when playing movies on Xi2528 with XP

Postby F.L » Mon Jul 21, 2008 11:07 pm

Hi,
I installed XP on the Xi2528 and almost everything is working fine.
But I have one issue with the graphics. When playing movies I usually have a small freeze during the playback.
The time for the freeze vary from time to time.

After updating all drivers I could find I ran DriverAgent and it seems that I still have some issues....
I still have red crosses on:
Intel(R) ICH8M-E/M SATA AHCI Controller
Intel(R) ICH8 Family PCI Express Root Port 6 - 2849
Intel(R) ICH8 Family PCI Express Root Port 4 - 2845
The rest is fine.

Maybe one of these are causing the problem?

Have any of you guys that installed XP on a Xi2528 managed to get the correct drivers for these three?
If so, what drivers did you use?

Do you notice any freezing while playing movies?

Edit: Now it just froze and made the pc reboot, that have never happend before...

btw, i had such problem on my desktop, i verified that i had the most recent drivers from the manufacturers, started Driver Update Agent (or something like that), and got similar issue - more "most recent" drivers, but the pc worked fine without installing any. If you got intermittent breaks until playing movie, (what the movie is? HD? What media you are playing it from? HDD, CD, LAN...) it could be the source you play it from. You could test hard disk benchmark with http://www.hdtune.com/hdtune_255.exe to see if this is not related with this source... I'm just giving a clues...

Hi thanks for your reply
The source is hdd and sometimes USB.
So far have I only tested non hd movies in format Xvid and DVD.

Did you ever solve it?
