Xa 2528 Running XP, OVERHEAT

Postby TheBag » Wed Jul 23, 2008 3:05 pm

Hello Everyone.

I got a Xa 2528 amilo notebook which comes with vista. I highly dislike vista so i changed to XP professional. It worked fine except for one thing: It gets overheated! When i used vista, sure it got hot, but not so hot it turned itself off. When i now start a game (Wc3) it gets noicy, and the temperature just keeps rising, starting from 65 or so and keeps going to 100, and then it shuts down. I've tried RMclock to undervolt it, and sure it did help abit to get temp down but it's still rising and eventually shuts off after like 10 minutes playing a game.

Is there any hope to run this machine in XP? or must i change back to vista?
The thing with the temperature "worked fine in vista but not xp" rules out hardware problem, right?

Please help, thanks in advance

hi
i have too Amilo Xa2528.
Can u say which type of Amd Turion X2 u have?
i Have Turion X2 tl-50 around 1600 Mhz l2 cache is 512k ( 2x 256k) its weak but power efficient.
I used vista on this machine 1,5 month then from early May i use Xp Sp3 and from july Sp2.
i played a lot TR: Aniversary, Crysis, Pro street, Time shift, Americas army, Soldiers: Heroes of the world war 2, Battlefield 2...
I dont have problems with overheating, but the CPU is warm. I dont know but around of 80 grade in celsius.

Thank You!

the common problem is the dust. my la1703 kept shutting down until i cleaned the space between the heat sink and the fan. now it's always under 80

i can conform the dust makes problem.
What i can easly confirm that my chipset cooler not was mounted good so every time i open my notebooks backpanel, is on the air.
My temperature raised constantly trough this first year of this notebook. No overclocking or anything same.
I try to undervolt which functioning good but make unstable the system and the working time wary from 30 min to 2 hours and after that just stops my laptop.
With undervoltage the temperatures drop very good. System stability depended on how much i undervolted.
My cpu worked 1.6 Ghz with 0.9 V (original is 1.1) but also with 1.0 volt dies after 2 hours of torture test (i played PanzerGeneral 2 which use the cpu constantly).
Which was usefull is the idle cycling of the undervolting program.(rmlock)

Happy playing!

i upgraded my memories. I changed the original 2x1 gb memorie which comes with the laptop to 2x2 gb Kingston Hyperx.
I not played this time with memory controller tweak on cpu to better setup (my memories work on 667 instead of performance 800 which they can).
I not feel too powerfuul maybe because my slow cpu.
i upload some pictures from my laptop.

Possible problems.
After update my laptop wont start at all and it was in a boot cycle.
First i think that wont start for the incorrect memories but the problem was that u have to put the memories with force on the socket.
Incorrect "touching" make me some heart problems over 1 hour till i realised my problem.

IM glad to help anyone in memory upgrade.
I mention that i know that my laptop support 4 gigs of memory. (from bios upgrade description).

thank you

hi
i observed that on latest months my cpu and vga heat is so high, 90 degre celsius when i play.
After some headache i decided to get down the heatsink to change the thermal compound.
I used Arctic silver ceramiq. My temperatures droped back to the original 80-81 under load.
The thermal paste which was before just become too "dry".

hi
I forget that when i aply the new thermal paste on my notebook, it was clear that the motherboard was modified.
No MXM slot is available and no possibilities to upgrade vga.
the g86 chip and ddr2 memories for vga are soldered.

but i read that FSC make possible the upgrade. It means they estimates your laptop value and somehow
(if have the 2 year return and buyback guarantie) they change for a new one.
information on fsc website under support and upgrade.
