1840 D - graphic card has gone nuts

Postby abk » Mon Aug 21, 2006 2:37 am

I get a cronic problem with my display. This happens on my lcd and if i attach an external monitor via the vga. It happens in windows and when i load the bios screen so its not the driver.

The screen basically goes all pixel lates and flickers multiple colours - it does happen all the time, somestimes I can access windows then will happen.

I am thinking on replacing the video card - is this possible ??

Probably it's the video memory - but you can't replace the graphics card in this notebook :-(
You could try to remove dust etc., maybe this problem occurs only when the notebook is too hot.

I've read somewhere that the video card has no cooling on its chips(no active, neither passive). So if it is an overheat from the memory chips you should observe green dots on the screen, otherwise no need to place radiator on the chips. The guy i've read about said that placing radiators on the vga helps in his problem.
