AMILO 1437G ATi X700 Black Screen

Postby s1rus » Tue Sep 02, 2008 8:04 pm

Hi All.

I have searched for the last 3 days for an answer but I have not found anything concrete. I have a Amilo 1437G Notebook. i have just done a full maintenance on the machine which was Ad-Aware, Spybot, System Mechanic, and a Virus scan, disc cleanup & defrag. All this was no problem.

During all of this I had to reboot a few times. On one of the occasions I rebooted and just after Windows loaded up when the blue screen comes up to choose a login, the screen went black and stayed like that. I can see the hard drive working and it seems the machine is still working.

I rebooted into safe mode were it booted up & I could get onto my desktop. I un-installed the drivers and rebooted into normal mode and it went to my desktop. This leads me to believe that it must be a driver issue?

If anyone has experienced this problem and resolved it I would love to here from you. Anyone else have any ideas please?

Thanks :)

ok big bug i found.

I have found out that if I leave the Mains adaptor out it will boot to the desktop, with the drivers for the x700 installed and works perfectly. If I then plug the Power Adapter in it will go to that black screen again and won't come back.

Ideas?

I suggest you download NHC and force low performance mode on your ATI card. I would assume that when plugging in AC you card will throttle up (different performance mode) and your card has degraded in a way that she can no longer hold that,
Upgrade your MXM graphics card!

Hi, ur a Star, this worked. I disabled the "ENABLE ATI POWERPLAY CONTROL IN NHC" which then diasbled the Powerplay on the system which doesn't gice me a black screen anymore.

Thanks fella :)
