Amilo 1541G: unexpected shutdowns

Postby KurtzWeber » Sun Sep 07, 2008 12:54 pm

Hello!

I've an Amilo M1451G: it worked fine for more than a year; now it's a month it's causing me some problems: after a randomic time, it suddenly shuts down: I can see the whole lights (hd, wireless...) turning on for a sec and then the laptop turns off. Sometimes, if I power it on immediately, it repeats to turn off after few secs... I have to let it off for some minutes, then I can power it on again.

I thought it could be a heat problem, so I bought one of those laptop fans but nothing changed... which is the component you suspect can cause that problem? RAM? HD? How can I perform a health scan for those hardware components?
Thanks!

PS: I forgot to say... I've just reinstalled the original XP and upgraded BIOS, drivers... from Fujitsu website with no luck...

You can check your RAM with memtest86+.

For the HDD use the program provided by the manufacturer of your HDD.
Or read the S.M.A.R.T-values if supported. This can be done with Everest.

For the CPU get Prime95 and run a stress test or open a calculator and let it compute the factorial of a very big number.
Check the CPU-temperature while the CPU is on heavy load with Everest, NHC or some other program.

Get a benchmark program like 3D-Mark 200x to stress the GPU and watch the GPU-temperature.
