Totally white screen with black bar at bottom...

Postby acrim » Tue Aug 29, 2006 6:43 pm

On power up the screen starts stripey/distorted then after a short time it just goes pure white with a black bar at the bottom.

You can hear it booting up, so i'm sure it's just a screen problem. What can i do?, i bought this off ebay a couple of days ago, it was working fine for a few hours, then this happened.

Cheers for any help in advance!

try BIOS and Hardware Reset as described here

If it doesn't work, it is a serious hardware problem...

white screen

Postby magick » Sat Jan 27, 2007 7:35 pm

I have a 1310g amilo that goes to totally white blank screen during dvd playback and sometimes during other activites. After changing the compatability settings on ati x200m the problem seems to have been sorted. one more thing since the use of lcd screens in laptops all manufactures have their laptops return for repairs due weak backlight support and inverter problems, only with lcd screens these problems arise

You are not alone with your problem.

I can't make the problem go away completely, but I found a way to recover from the white screen.

If you install the Omega drivers, you get the ATI Tray tools. With the ATI Tray tools, you can assign hot keys which can be bound to do different things. Such as "Turn monitor off". Now, when your screen goes white, just hit the key combination that you assigned for "Turn monitor off", and when the screen goes black, move the mouse a little. Blink, your screen comes back ok. Obviously, you'll want to have the ATI Tray tools to load during bootup.

Fujitsu should release a display driver that fixes this issue. I'm pretty sure its just a software bug. I'd say the Omega drivers are a bit worse off than the original ones, at least in terms of stability, so if you can find a way to make the ATI tray tools work with the original display driver, you'll probably see less of those white-screen issues than with the Omegas. And please let us know if you find a better solution than just using the Omegas.

white screen

To Uga

Thank kindly for your reply, to answer you question about ati drivers google for " ati forsage drivers" virtually all drivers ati drivers for laptop are found there also google for " ati refresh fix" this app safely does a
check on registry entries made by ati install exe.

The reason in my opinion for this white screen issue is that the amilo range
is a registry version that incorporates both decimal and hexidecimal entries into the registry. My cousin's toshiba laptop does not have hexidecimal as option in his registry version.

One more thing my laptop out of the box had max resolution of 1024x768
resolution but after a reinstalling home edition the resolution is 1280x800
further more after reinstallation my shared video ram in the bios does not work.

The reason can be virus as then only you gat a white screen due to your system becoming very slow...It hangs at intervals.....
