amilo xi 1546 unable to boot from usb stick

Postby petrus » Sun Oct 05, 2008 7:54 pm

I can't get my Amilo xi 1546 to boot from usb stick (kingston datatraveller). Strangely enough it does boot from an external usb hdd. I've set the boot sequence order to "usb-key - CDROM - HDD" in the BIOS, but after some initial flashing of the memory stick LED, it jumps to HDD each time . I tried the same stick on another laptop (acer 1700) and there it works.
Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance..

Do you have a bootable System on your stick?

USB-Devices can identify themselves as a USB-HDD or as a Superfloppy. Maybe your Kingston-stick uses the Superfloppy-mode and your bios doesn't support this. Do you have another USB-entry in the boot-order-table?

If you have a Corsair-stick this should work since all Corsair-sticks I know identify themselves as a USB-HDD.
