Linux on Amilo Li2727

Postby anticrust » Wed Oct 08, 2008 11:57 am

Hey, I've tried to install Ubuntu Hardy on my laptop. Although it worked like a charme (something you would actually expect from Ubuntu) I encountered one small problem.. My Atheros network card won't work, all due to the fact that Linux doesn't recognise the Fn+F1 key combinations. Almost all other combinations work perfectly, except for the silent mode which is Fn+F11. I've allready installed the latest drivers for the Atheros 5007 EG card from madwifi. According to modprobe it is installed correctly, so I think the problem is with the absence of an Ubuntu module which acts like the launch manager under Windows Virus ehm.. Vista I mean.. Well anyway, is there anybody out there who can help me, 'cause my laptop is now running on Vista and keeps on crashing four times a day!!!!

Thanx.

Have you checked the bios to see if there is an option to enable the wireless interface at boot up?

I've started a topic about this on the official FSC forums: http://forum.fujitsu-siemens.com/forum/ ... 89&t=33708
You can read it there, or if you just want the link that's the most useful: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=644899
As you're using Ubuntu the installation of these modules should be no problem, it worked like a charm for me on Ubuntu but I haven't managed to get it working under Fedora yet.

Thanx for the link allthough I came across it yesterday, after I posted the above. I'll be compiling next weekend (not coming), as for this and coming week I need my laptop for my school. But I'm getting tired of the the infamous windows instabillity...
I'll keep you informed about the progress
