Li 1718 - Not powering up

Postby nomadicnick » Thu Oct 09, 2008 10:14 pm

Hi guys,

I have an Li 1718 laptop, currently it wont boot up at all, if i press the power button, the Power LED lights up and the fan starts whirring for a few seconds then nothing else happens.... if you listen carefully you can hear the HDD ticking over. Ive tried a hardware reset which didn't work. Any other suggestion.

regards

Nick

Does it boot from a CD if you remove the HDD?

well, several months ago I have the same problem, my amilo doesn't start. I' ve been pressing the power button but it gives me nothing. I found by chance that I have still my warranty. They've said that my mainboard was crashed and then they repalce it. The new one cost something about 180 euro, depends where you live ( shipping )

There is a slight change in its behaviour since i tried to boot without the HDD in. Now when i press the power button, it comes on for a few seconds, then the whole thing switches off again. Previously when it switched on, the power LED remained on until you pulled the battery. If it is the main board causing the issues... are they easy to replace on these laptops?

Additionally... this laptop was sent way to be repaired a few months ago, when it displayed other boot up problems. I believe the HDD and Mainboard were replaced at that point. Does anyone know if Fujitsu Seimens are obliged to look at this problem as part of the original, even if the warrenty has just expired?

No beeps... screen is still black, not even a slight flicker to suggest any kind of output to the LCD

well u know, as I said before, I have the same situation, and that was mainboard. One more thing, if they replace the mainboard, the lifetime of your warranty has been extended ( sorry about my english ), that was in my case
