BEST GRAPHIC DRIVER FOR AMILO M3438? Topic is solved

Display problems, black screen, TV-Out,...

Postby Kieran » Mon Dec 04, 2006 2:58 pm

Just tried to install v91.33 on my laptop along with the modded inf file, but it blue-screen-of-death's on me, so I had to revert back to v81.94. I'm using Windows XP Home + SP2, not Media Centre.

Do I need a new GPU BIOS version to run v91.33? I have v5.41.02.39.60

Thanks!

I'm just now driving 97.28 w/o any problems, same Bios. When I tried 91.33 first time I had no problems, but last week I tried again with just BSODs - I didn't care to use DriverCleaner to get rid of newer files and I think that was the reason for BSODs. But speedwise some older driver could be better.

Thanks. I did uninstall v81.94 prior to installing 91.3, but even so it did say it was going to overwrite old drivers with new ones, so it might not have been a totally clean install.

What features or fixes does v97.28 have since v91.33?

Thanks

Release notes that I easily found are for 97.02:

An uninstall is not enough to get rid of all driver files, best to boot in safe mode and use Driver Cleaner Pro.

You think 2 years old drivers are up-to-date?

I did not say anything about if they were up to date or not. I just said that they work fine for me.

After a full format and Windows XP re-installation, I tried to install the v91.33 nVidia drivers but it ended in a fatal BSOD at the end of the graphics install, automatically halting and rebooting the computer. So that's not good.

91.33 gave me problems also, forget it, go for the 91.31. In terms of performance (regarding the games I play), it gave me the best performance ever.

And, no, these don't offer Super/ Multi-Sampling yet. That's too bad, otherwise I think I would stick with them forever.

Anyway, I'm now running 97.44 and they're the best I've tried since 91.31. I noticed with this one I can run more games with 16x Super-Sampling without slowdowns (with the other driver I couldn't). Maybe they're Super-Sampling optimized.

Curious story: I just purchased UT2003 really cheap on a store some days ago, just to remember old times and play online. I'm running at maximum settings, with 16x Super-Sampling, 16x Anis. and all I can say is WOW, the game seems and feels completely different. Absolutelly gorgeous.

Cheers!

97.44 works well.

However, my 3D mark scores are lower using this version than the now very old v81.94.

Both non-overclocked.

It depends on what games you're playing. Older games seem to perform better with older drivers, and recent games have better performance with newer drivers (generally speaking).

I feel the performance drop is acceptable ence the gain of super-sampling capability.

Why do you guys care about the 3DMark results?
As long as you can play games better than with other drivers it is fine.
Or at least it is fune for me.
